About the Role:

As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Pre-Operative department, you will play a crucial role in preparing patients for surgical procedures, ensuring their safety and comfort. Your primary responsibility will be to assess patients' health status, educate them about the surgical process, and address any concerns they may have. You will collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans. This position requires a strong focus on patient advocacy, as you will be the key point of contact for patients and their families during the pre-operative phase. Ultimately, your efforts will contribute to positive surgical outcomes and enhance the overall patient experience in our facility.

Minimum Qualifications:

Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent nursing degree.

BLS certification or must obtain within 30 days of hire.

Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in a surgical or pre-operative setting. Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in Pre-Operative Nursing (CNOR) or similar specialty certification.

Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems. Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments, including medical history and physical examinations.

Educate patients and their families about the surgical procedure, potential risks, and post-operative care.

Administer pre-operative medications and prepare patients for surgery according to established protocols.

Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure all necessary documentation and equipment are ready for the procedure.

Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition during the pre-operative period, addressing any concerns promptly.

Skills:

The required skills for this position include strong clinical assessment abilities, which are essential for evaluating patients' health and readiness for surgery. Effective communication skills are vital, as you will need to explain complex medical information in an understandable manner to patients and their families. Attention to detail is crucial in ensuring that all pre-operative protocols are followed accurately, minimizing the risk of complications.
