Contract Controller

Commercial Contractor - McKinney, Texas

Position Summary

Seeking an experienced Contract Controller for a well-established commercial contractor in McKinney, Texas. This on-site contract position requires someone with construction industry experience to handle month-end close, financial reporting, journal entries, and lead a small accounting team.

Key Responsibilities

Execute monthly close processes and prepare financial statements

Prepare and post journal entries, including construction-related adjustments

Lead and mentor a small accounting team (2-4 staff members)

Oversee project-based accounting and job costing procedures

Handle construction contract accounting and revenue recognition

Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow analysis

Support project managers with cost analysis and budget variance reporting

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

CPA certification (active or inactive) strongly preferred

10 years of progressive accounting experience

Construction, HVAC, plumbing, or professional trade services experience highly desired

Experience with project-based accounting and job costing

Advanced Excel skills and accounting software proficiency

Strong leadership and communication skills
