Job Purpose

This position operates on first shift, Monday - Friday 7am - 3:30pm. Overtime may be required, including 10 hour days and scheduled Saturdays.

The operator will sort plates, rail spikes, and other track material as it comes down a conveyor belt. Scrap is sorted manually, and plates weigh up to 40 pounds. Work is performed outside under a shelter and there is high dust exposure.

Key Job Elements

The OTM Sorter will primarily:

• Move, sort and divide Recycled railroad parts and metals coming down a conveyor line system. Work is extremely dirty and workers are exposed to all weather conditions;

• Run various equipment;

• Perform routine maintenance and clean up;

• Work outdoors in all weather conditions;

• Climb, squat, bend,and crawl;

• Other duties as assigned.

Education / Training

• HS Diploma or equivalent education and experience.

Qualifications and Experience

• Previous experience operating forklifts and other mobile equipment is a plus;

• Must be able to work in severe weather conditions and withstand fumes, dust and other physical demands of the job.
