POSITION SUMMARY
Tolerance Masters Inc is a precision machine shop located in Circle Pines, MN. We specialize in the manufacturing of close tolerance flight safety and critical performance machined parts and sub-assemblies. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Lathe Machinist to join our team on the second shift. The role requires expertise in CNC lathe operation and the ability to set up machines for efficient and precise production runs. The ideal candidate will have experience with close-tolerance machining, be highly dependable, and thrive in a collaborative work environment.

Monday-Thursday: 4:00PM - 2:30AM
Fridays-Opportunity for overtime
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare CNC lathes for production runs, including tool selection, installation, and offsets
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine machine setup requirements
Perform first article inspections to ensure setup accuracy and make necessary adjustments
Operate CNC lathes to manufacture parts to exact specifications, ensuring adherence to quality standards
Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise
Perform routine and preventative maintenance to maintain optimal machine performance
Conduct in-process inspections using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
Collaborate with quality control to resolve any deviations and implement corrective actions
Work closely with programmers, engineers, and other machinists to optimize production processes
Train and mentor less experienced machinists when needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Proven experience as a CNC Lathe Machinist, with a strong background in machine setup
Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, GD&T and specifications
Skilled in using precision measuring tools for part inspection
Familiarity with CNC programming basics (G-code knowledge is a plus)
Ability to troubleshoot and solve machining issues effectively
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or apprenticeship in machining required
Minimum of 5 years of CNC lathe machining experience, including machine setup
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds
Standing for extended periods during the shift
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment; moderate to high levels of dirt, noise, vibrations, equipment movement hazards, fumes, chemicals/solvents, and electrical hazards. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, etc. is to be worn as applicable throughout the entire shift.
