CNC Operator

Job Description

Position Summary:

We are looking for a CNC Lathe Operator with hands-on experience to join our machine shop team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathes to produce precision metal components for large-scale machinery and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Set up and operate CNC lathe machines to manufacture precision parts

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions

Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools to ensure they meet tight tolerances

Load/unload raw materials and finished components

Make minor offsets and tool changes as needed

Monitor equipment and perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance

Keep work area clean and organized and follow all safety guidelines

Accurately document production data and maintain job records

Requirements:

High school diploma or GED

1–2 years of CNC lathe operation experience in a manufacturing environment

Ability to read blueprints and interpret technical drawings

Familiarity with measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges

Basic understanding of G-code and CNC controls

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for long periods

Dependable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with multi-axis CNC lathes

Familiarity with precision machining for industrial equipment or custom machinery

Ability to perform light machine programming or offsets
