Job Description

The Controller will lead and oversee all aspects of the company's financial reporting, accounting operations, internal controls, and compliance. This role is pivotal in supporting strategic decision-making and ensuring the financial integrity of our growing portfolio of renewable energy projects. Additional responsibilities include business insurance selection and renewals and implementation and maintenance of company health and pension plans. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, hands-on leader with a strong background in project-based accounting and experience in the energy or infrastructure sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

•\tManage accounts payable, receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and project-level accounting.

•\tManage semi-monthly payrolls and quarterly/annual payroll tax filings.

•\tManage monthly power sales invoicing, quarterly REC invoicing, and interest subsidy tax reimbursements.

•\tForecast, monitor and manage company cash flows and liquidity needs.

•\tSupport project finance and development teams with cost tracking, budgeting, and forecasting for renewable energy projects.

•\tManage general ledger, month-end close, and financial statements in accordance with GAAP or as otherwise needed.

•\tLead the preparation of timely and accurate financial reports, including P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow statements on an as needed basis

•\tDevelop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

•\tCoordinate audits and serve as the primary point of contact with external auditors and tax advisors.

•\tAssist with tax planning and compliance, including sales/use tax, property tax, and income tax filings.

•\tManage relationships with investors, owners, power purchasers, banks, and insurance brokers.

•\tOversee banking and financial covenants and corporate filings and reporting compliance.

•\tMonitor and track lease, option and easement agreements for timely payment of periodic amounts as they become due.

•\tAssist with recording of lease and easement agreements and property transfer tax returns with relevant agencies.

•\tSupervise and mentor accounting staff to be added as business growth requires.

Qualifications:

•\tBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA desirable.

•\t7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role.

•\tExperience in the renewable energy, infrastructure, and/or real estate development sectors highly preferred.

•\tFamiliarity with tax equity structures, PPAs, project financing or other related contracts.

•\tExperience administering accounting, tax and insurance provisions of various contracts. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, project accounting, and financial reporting.

•\tProven experience implementing or scaling accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar).

•\tExpertise in the use of Excel spreadsheets for accounting, financial modeling, budgeting and specific projects.

•\tExpertise in the use of Word to create and edit documents.

•\tExcellent organizational, analytical, and leadership skills.

•\tAbility to work independently in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
