Seeking a highly motivated broadcast technician to join a creative and dynamic team producing live broadcast video content for the U.S. Department of State and digital partners.

The position serves as the Broadcast Master Control and Cloud Routing Systems Operator and will serve as a broadcast technical expert with responsibility for providing direct master control operation and execution of live programs toward broadcast and video-over-IP applications for assigned GPA productions. This position assures correct routing, recording, switching and distribution of live feeds and events supporting the office of the Secretary of State to U.S. Department of State web, social and broadcast media platforms using traditional hardware-based and remote cloud-based broadcast routing and distribution systems and techniques.

Our ideal candidate will also be highly skilled in performing hands-on studio and master control equipment operation and problem solving involving broadcast systems including: camera, audio, lighting, live switching, teleprompter, editing and graphics, including for live broadcast productions.

Key aspects of this role include:

- Responsibility for broadcast professional production values and aesthetic qualities of production including artistic and creative aspects directly in the roles of live master control routing camera operation, audio mixing, and TD.

- Knowledge of proper use and ability to operate and troubleshoot dozens of pieces of electronic broadcast equipment in the video control room.

- Experience in live routing and encoding applications used for video-over-IP applications and live streaming on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. Familiarity with LiveU, RTMP, Teradek encoders, decoders, and CORE routing system highly desirable.

- Working as the technical lead for live broadcast programming, with proficiency in integrating virtual platforms such as Zoom, WebEx, Google meet with broadcast equipment and workflows.

- Developing proficiencies in all elements of live streaming applications including: creating live streams and channels, operating hardware and software encoders, CDN management, modifying and embedding video players, and multi-screen content delivery.

Experience with technical platforms including, equivalent, or similar to:

- Teradek hardware and CORE platform configurations, Teradek Core 2.1 Pro, Cube T-RAX and Bond technologies- admin level; standard 'flagship' workflows, complex ad-hoc workflows, including the deployment of regional Sputnik instances and Helix transcoding engines

- LiveU live video transmission and video streaming solutions;

- Slack cloud-based team collaboration tools-admin level;

- Utah Scientific 400 Series 2 router;

- Blackbird Edge, Forte and Ascent technologies- operator level;

- Harmonic Omneon Spectrum Servers;

- Blackmagic ATEM switchers;

- Ross Production Switchers and Xpression graphics package;

- Panasonic AK-HRP 200 remote operations panel;

- Harris/Leitch TBC and/or frame synchronizers;

- BlackMagic Terenex broadcast up/down converters;

- NewTek TalkShow VS-100/VS 4000 Skype appliances;

- Solid State Logic C10 HD Plus audio console;

- Ensemble Designs BrightEye scan converters;

- Autoscript TelePrompTer systems;

- Reidel Connect Trio hybrid devices; Reidel intercom panels;

- DVC Tandberg C-60 video-conferencing codecs;

- Digital/analog conversion equipment;

- Working knowledge of open gear systems and configuration

- Working closely with Office staff to maintain and develop the technical capabilities of the Broadcast Studio suite, ensuring each conforms to industry standards as well as the unique challenges faced by GPA as it seeks to reach audiences in low-bandwidth areas.

- Maintaining a pulse on emerging technologies related to online streaming and editing on- demand content.

- Providing ongoing, personalized, predictable, and friendly customer service and support that will help guide staff and management through technology changes.

- Helping create and implement change management strategies and plans that maximize employee adoption and usage including but not limited to collaboration tools, mobile devices, media asset management (MAM) systems and protocols.

- Coordinating and conducting digital skill building training sessions to promote better adoption of digital strategies and workflows including but not limited to telework readiness and adoption of better media management/file management standardization and best practices.

BA required with a minimum of 4 - 6 years experience in broadcast studio applications. Our ideal candidate will possess knowledge of the most recent production advancements in the fields of live broadcast and digital technology, in order to help create products technically and aesthetically comparable to those produced by the news and commercial television industries.
