Job Description

Position Summary

As a member of the weavix Engineering team, the SDET plays a pivotal role in building a robust automation-first testing framework that enhances software quality at scale. This position is vital in shaping a culture of engineering excellence and test automation, enabling rapid, reliable releases across mobile and web platforms.

The ideal candidate brings a developer's mindset to QA—designing automated test frameworks, and collaborating closely with engineering and product teams to ensure testability, performance, and resilience. The SDET will champion scalable, maintainable test architecture that supports rapid release cycles and high-quality end-user experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks for web and mobile (Android and iOS) applications using tools like WebdriverIO, Appium, Selenium, Playwright, or similar.

Integrate and monitor automated tests during release cycles to support scalable test execution and continuous quality assurance.

Collaborate with designers, developers and product managers during sprint cycles to define testability criteria, acceptance tests, and edge cases early in the development process.

Author and manage test plans and scenarios for complex systems, validating functional, regression, integration, performance, and API-level testing.

Troubleshoot and analyze test failures, logging detailed and reproducible bug reports, and contributing to root cause analysis.

Leverage test management and tracking tools such as Jira and Zephyr Scale to document, prioritize, and report testing efforts across teams.

Promote and advocate for test automation, quality engineering practices, and tooling improvements that enhance developer productivity and product reliability.

Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, while continuously optimizing QA strategies in a fast-paced startup environment.

Research and experiment with new testing tools and methodologies, introducing innovative solutions for quality assurance challenges.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

4–6 years of experience in software engineering, test automation, or QA engineering roles, preferably in a SaaS or startup environment.

Strong programming skills in languages such as TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, Python, or similar for test development with an emphasis on UI testing.

Demonstrated expertise with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, WebdriverIO, Appium, Cypress, Playwright).

Experience with source control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions), and cloud-based testing platforms.

Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and experience writing automated API tests using tools like Postman, REST Assured, or similar.

Proficient in cross-platform mobile testing and web testing across browsers and devices.

Familiarity with performance, load, or security testing tools is a plus.

Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Strong commitment to continuous improvement, quality culture, and delivering high-impact digital products.
