The Senior Project Manager (SPM) provides senior-level leadership across strategic healthcare initiatives, with a focus on improving healthcare delivery systems. This position is responsible for the full project lifecycle - from initiation to closeout - ensuring alignment with healthcare priorities, stakeholder expectations, and regulatory requirements. The SPM plays a critical role in aligning operational strategy with mission-driven outcomes, leading high-impact engagements for clients such as the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Defense Health Agency (DHA). This role demands a strong grasp of compliance, innovation, and cross-agency coordination within complex healthcare ecosystems. Up to 10% travel required for this position.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Project Oversight and Execution

Lead enterprise-level projects focused on healthcare program transformation, regulatory implementation, and process optimization.

Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, deliverables, and budgets aligned with organizational goals and contract performance metrics.

Oversee risk management, change control, and quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle.

Coordinate with executive leadership to align project strategies with business objectives and policy directives.

Regulatory Compliance and Quality Leadership

Ensure all projects adhere to applicable federal healthcare regulations including those set by DHA, VA, CMS, and The Joint Commission.

Lead the design, implementation, and oversight of Corrective Action Plans (CAPs), internal audits, and continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives.

Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs), service-level agreements (SLAs), and data quality metrics to assess project success.

Serve as a senior quality assurance advisor, delivering data-driven, evidence-based strategies that support regulatory alignment and operational effectiveness.

Cross-Functional Team Leadership and Stakeholder Management

Drive collaboration among cross-disciplinary teams including clinical, policy, IT, data analytics, and compliance professionals.

Manage stakeholder engagement with government sponsors, healthcare providers, subcontractors, and internal departments to align on performance objectives.

Prepare and deliver comprehensive updates, decision briefs, and performance analyses to executives and oversight entities.

Mentor junior project staff and subject matter experts to build sustainable delivery capacity across the organization.

Healthcare Data and Reporting Strategy

Guide the integration of internal data systems, federal reporting platforms, and contract performance benchmarks to support program analytics.

Lead the development of deliverables such as executive dashboards, CDRL submissions, policy summaries, and data validation reports for DHA and VA stakeholders.

Ensure full compliance with federal data privacy, reporting, and documentation standards, including HIPAA and FISMA requirements.Requirements:

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or related field strongly preferred.

PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification strongly preferred.

Lean Six Sigma, Agile, or Healthcare Compliance certifications (e.g., CHC) preferred.

Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in healthcare project management, systems implementation, or policy-driven program oversight.

Demonstrated success leading federally funded healthcare initiatives or large-scale health system improvement projects.

Expertise in contract interpretation, healthcare compliance, and project delivery within military, VA, TRICARE, or CMS-regulated environments.

This position may require the successful completion of a federal background investigation and maintaining the eligibility to work on CUI or other position of trust projects.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to travel up to 10% to to client locations, Federal site visits, program reviews, or stakeholder events.

Must demonstrate self-accountability and adaptability to shifting priorities, evolving compliance requirements, and high-stakes deliverable timelines.

Proven ability to lead complex projects in high-pressure, highly regulated environments.

Exceptional communication, negotiation, and organizational skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.

Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet), EHR systems, and healthcare analytics platforms.

Strong strategic thinking, risk mitigation, and solution-oriented leadership capabilities.

Work Schedule

Consistent, full-time work expected Monday – Friday, eight hours per day in a focused and fast-paced environment.
