Job Title: Contract System Administrator (Part-Time)

Location: Remote (Austin-based candidates only)

Type: 12-Week Contract

Hours: Part-Time (20–30 hours/week)

Rate: $28–35/hour

About the Role:

Anchor Talent is seeking a part-time System Administrator to provide temporary IT support coverage for a client in downtown Austin for a 12-week project. This contract role will support both on-site and remote users, with a focus on access provisioning, network troubleshooting, and general system maintenance. The ideal candidate will be Austin-based and available to respond on-site for occasional hardware or network-related issues/outages.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide remote and on-site IT support for Austin office

Monitor and respond to tickets via Jira Service Management

Provision and manage access to internal resources for U.S. and international employees

Troubleshoot workstation and network issues across macOS, Windows, and Linux environments

Perform basic support and configuration of on-premise servers (Synology, ESXi, utility servers)

Maintain and support office network infrastructure (UniFi switches, access points, EdgeRouter)

Manage Wireguard VPN access and maintain IPSec connections to AWS and international sites

Utilize Terraform for infrastructure automation and configuration tasks

Organize tasks using a Kanban board for ongoing visibility and prioritization

Requirements:

2–4 years of experience in a system administration or IT support role

Strong hands-on experience with Terraform and UniFi network infrastructure

Proficiency in managing and supporting macOS, Windows, and Linux systems

Experience with Jira or similar ticketing systems

Basic knowledge of networking protocols and VPN management (Wireguard, IPSec)

Located in Austin, TX, with the ability to be on-site as needed for hardware or network support

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with ESXi virtualization and Synology NAS environments

Scripting experience (Python or Bash) for automation and tooling

Experience supporting hybrid or globally distributed teams
