Job Title: QA/QC Specialist – Solar Energy Projects
Location: Project-based (Travel Required)
Schedule: 50-hour work week (Five 10-hour shifts), Saturdays as needed
Compensation: $100/day per diem (7 days/week)
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated QA/QC Specialist with strong experience in solar energy projects and mechanical systems to ensure quality standards across our utility-scale solar installations. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring all mechanical components and systems meet engineering specifications and industry standards.
This is a project-based position requiring field presence, technical expertise, and strong attention to detail. Candidates must be comfortable working 50 hours per week across five 10-hour shifts, with Saturdays worked as required. A $100 per diem is provided 7 days per week, regardless of workdays.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Control
Develop and enforce QA/QC procedures for mechanical solar installations.
Conduct inspections on racking systems, trackers, and mechanical assemblies to ensure compliance with project plans and standards.
Perform routine testing and oversight of mechanical systems, ensuring functionality and safety.
Manage calibration and maintenance records for all relevant mechanical tools and systems.
Documentation & Reporting
Record inspection outcomes, generate QA/QC reports, and document all corrective actions.
Ensure all project documentation is accurate and aligned with regulatory requirements and client expectations.
Provide regular feedback and progress updates to project stakeholders.
Collaboration & Communication
Coordinate with engineers, site leads, and PMs to uphold quality standards.
Serve as the key liaison for all mechanical QA/QC concerns on-site.
Train field personnel on quality standards, mechanical best practices, and inspection protocols.
Problem-Solving & Continuous Improvement
Identify installation issues and develop immediate corrective measures.
Analyze quality data to propose long-term process improvements.
Ensure all site activities meet environmental and safety guidelines.
Qualifications
Required:
3–5 years of QA/QC experience, preferably in the solar or renewable energy industry.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems used in solar energy projects (racking, trackers, inverters, etc.).
Field experience in inspecting mechanical installations on large construction projects.
Proficiency in reading construction drawings, mechanical schematics, and QA tools.
Technical Skills:
Understanding of ISO quality standards or Six Sigma principles.
Familiarity with QA testing tools and mechanical inspection techniques.
Soft Skills:
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Problem-solver with a proactive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications in quality management (e.g., CQE, CQA).
Experience with small utility-scale solar farms (6–10 MW).
Working knowledge of OSHA and environmental standards related to solar installations.
