Sr Azure Cloud Architect

Job Description

AAC is seeking a highly skilled Senior Azure Cloud Architect to support a strategic enterprise cloud transformation project for a public sector client in Columbia, SC. This consultant will help design, build, and maintain a modern cloud-native integration platform and Data Lakehouse architecture on Azure.

Influence DevOps, GitOps, and SecOps practices across the engineering lifecycle.

Serve as a technical mentor and guide for engineers, developers, and junior architects.

Work closely with executive stakeholders on strategic digital modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with development teams and stakeholders to design scalable, secure cloud-native systems.

Drive architecture, design, and implementation of Azure services including AKS, APIM, Event Grid, and Function Apps.

Lead the development and deployment of resilient integration pipelines and data platforms using Azure Synapse or Databricks.

Participate in agile ceremonies such as daily standups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.

Own end-to-end DevOps lifecycle including IaC with Terraform/Bicep, CI/CD with Azure DevOps, and system monitoring.

Provide architectural guidance and support across multiple cloud projects.

Required Skills and Experience:

10+ years of application development experience using object-oriented principles.

Deep hands-on expertise with Azure services including:

API Management, AKS, Container Apps, Function Apps, Event Grid

Storage Accounts, Key Vault, ACR, and SQL Managed Instance

Strong programming experience in Java (Spring Boot) and Python (PySpark, Flask, Pandas).

Proven experience developing scalable CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.

Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.

Experience designing and building medallion architecture in Azure Synapse or Databricks.

Knowledge of mature RESTful API design concepts and OpenAPI specifications.

Proficiency in Git and Gitflow branching strategies.

Strong SQL development experience: stored procedures, triggers, and views.

Preferred Skills:

Experience working within Agile (Scrum or Kanban) teams.

Understanding of Azure networking and event-driven architectures.

Knowledge of SAP, S/4HANA, Ivalua, or other ERP systems is a plus.

Practice with test-driven development (TDD) and DevSecOps principles.

Education & Certifications:

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field

or

5+ years of equivalent experience in cloud engineering and architecture

Preferred:

Azure Cloud Certifications
