Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as a QC/QA Technologist in the Apheresis/Cell Processing Laboratory department. Here, you will perform operations within the Hematopoietic Cellular Therapy Program, we support both the adult and pediatric programs, and provide our patients the latest cellular therapy products for the treatment of benign and malignant diseases. This department is the Apheresis/Cell Processing Laboratory. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
The QA/QC Technologist in the Clinical Cell Processing Laboratory (Cell Lab) functions as a hospital, non-union staff member who, under the direction of a lab manager and lab director in the bone marrow transplant program, will perform QA/QC duties including data collection, evaluation and statistical analysis under the guidance of the lab Quality and Compliance Technologist.
Essential Job Functions
Exhibits appropriate initiative as needed, i.e., reading and understanding all QA/QC related protocols and procedures, adapting to changes in procedures or environment, etc
Contacts appropriate ancillary departments for various requests as necessary (i.e. blood bank, hematology, environmental services, plant department, etc.)
Transporting specimens and lab materials to the appropriate hospital units
Communicates pertinent information to staff
Completes daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual quality control tasks
Updates and maintains QA/QC-related databases and conducts data analysis
Responsible for performing QC Testing/Assays (Sysmex- new lot validation & QC periods submission and peer comparison)
Responsible for collecting and compiling validation/verification data as well as preparing and processing quality-related documents as deemed necessary by the supervisor
Responsible for facility materials management
Maintains archival storage records of facility processing and quality-related records
Moves and connects equipment as appropriate
Required Qualifications
BA or BS degree in life sciences with 0-2 yrs experience in a laboratory setting
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal
Ability to act in a professional manner with individuals at all levels
Ability to work independently and in team efforts
Knowledge and ability to use automated and conventional laboratory equipment
Considerable skill in maintaining records and files
Possess good analytical capabilities, and some basic statistical analysis is highly desirable
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with quality assurance and quality control in the field of cellular therapy
No prior lab experience required, but preferred

Compensation & Benefits Overview
UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
