Summary:
The Bridge Foreman manages the on-site performance of work and supervises and coordinates the crew of workers assigned to a particular job site. The foreman is primarily concerned with seeing that the workers under them do their job skillfully, safely and efficiently, and that assigned work progresses on schedule.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans the day-to-day operations on assigned projects and ensures that proper resources are in place for the timely completion of work, including labor, tools, equipment and material,
Participates in the selection process of what crew members to bring on to a job site,
Makes recommendations on the hiring, training, corrective action and termination of crew members,
Communicates and coordinates with third-party inspectors, representatives, and others to accomplish operations,
Takes responsibility for crew performance as it relates to company goals, safety audits, and following company polies and procedures,
Pre-plans work activities with Superintendent to develop best means and methods, including safety action plans,
Maintains a dedication to safety at all times that proper safety equipment is available and used by field personnel,
Conducts daily briefing with crew to review production goals, performance feedback, safety, toolbox talks, and schedule, hazards, and to solicit feedback from the workers,
Accountable for ensuring that the completed work meets quality standards,
Coordinate and maintain work schedule/deadlines with project managers and other management personnel,
Responsible for daily review and daily submittal of crew time sheets,
Responsible for accurately reporting daily quantities for work performed, and if appropriate, comparing and harmonizing quantities with others,
Initiates follow up action as necessary including training, orientation, discipline, etc.,
Must wear proper attire at all times including: safety vests, safety glasses when appropriate, long pants, hard sole/close-toed shoes, and reflect a clean and presentable image,
May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends,
Additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Minimum 5 years’ foreman experience on bridge construction projects,
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record,
OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 is a plus,
In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and OSHA guidelines,
Ability to read drawing, plans and blueprints,
Excellent organization and leadership skills,
Ability to effectively communicate,
Solid problem-solving skills,
Ability to work in all weather conditions,
Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug & alcohol screening.
Working Conditions:
This job requires the ability to lift, pull, and push a minimum of 50 lbs.,
Must have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat, and twist,
In addition, you must have the ability to be on your feet regularly and use hands, arms, and legs repeatedly on the job. This includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces,
This job requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time and constant use of hands and arms,
This job requires the ability to see, whether naturally or with vision correction tools (glasses, contacts),
Performing strenuous work in varying temperatures, humidity, wind, or other extreme inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time,
Work may be performed in an environment with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel, fumes, vapors, dust, grease and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and exposure to moving equipment.
