The Development & Events Manager will work collaboratively within the Resource Development Team. The duties of this position will include event planning and execution, fundraising, leadership committee and honoree management, annual campaign implementation and other projects needed to support the organization. A key objective of this role is to identify new support for United Way of Long Island while executing strategies to grow new revenue.

Essential Functions:

Coordinate and manage United Way of Long Island’s signature events including United Together Celebration, LIIC Gala, and Young Professionals Network events representing a collective goal of $1.2 million in revenue annually

Solicit sponsorships, monetary gifts and in-kind product donations

Coordinate all logistical aspects of event planning and implementation including budgeting, event experiences, invitation and promotion, timeline development and administration, securing and working with vendors, revenue tracking and event registration etc.

Execute new revenue growth strategies including new event and campaign development

Provide fundraising support and relationship management for event committees and honorees

Work with donors & volunteers on third party fundraising events and campaigns including coaching and logistical support.

Coordinate with the Marketing Team for all event collateral including sponsorship kits, printed/digital journals, invitations and event sponsorship activations

Prepare financial recap and pursue unpaid invoices.

Secure and train event volunteers for each event based on needs.

Demonstrate a commitment to the United Way of Long Island mission in all work produced.

Support other United Way of Long Island events as necessary.

May be assigned other tasks and duties reasonably related to their job responsibilities.Educational Requirements:

College degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree,Skills and/or Experience Required:

5-7 years previous or related experience

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Publisher, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skill

Advanced time-management skills and proven ability to meet deadlines

Ability to handle coordinating multiple events simultaneously.

Ability to negotiate best pricing and work with event vendors

Strong relationship management and customer service skills

Collaborative team player

Willingness to work early morning or evening events.

Familiarity with Donor Databases and event forms (Raiser’s Edge Preferred)
