Our client, a financially stable and growing manufacturing company is seeking a controller. The Controller is responsible for all aspects of accounting/finance for that plant.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements through the trial balance, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Conduct detailed variance analysis (actual vs. budget/forecast/standard), providing insights and recommendations.
Maintain and update standard costing systems, including cost roll-ups and inventory valuation.
Lead the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes for the plant, working closely with department heads.
Reconcile key general ledger accounts monthly and ensure alignment with supporting documentation.
Enforce and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with corporate policies.
Provide oversight of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll operations at the plant level.
Support the annual audit process, including preparation of audit schedules and liaising with external auditors.
Partner with operations and plant leadership to drive cost savings and process improvements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting.
Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or similar).
Expert-level skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros, etc.).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
