MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Works safely in an industrial environment and around machinery; observes and instructs others in proper equipment use.
Follows all safety rules and regulations as well as all company policies and procedures; uses/wears all required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for assigned tasks.
Maintains confidentially of information.
Travels as required to customer sites to perform modifications and maintenance of mechanical equipment as needed.
Maintains level of work performance in accordance with DSC's standards and/or production deadline specifications with minimal supervision.
Meets all project deadlines; complete all assignments in a timely fashion to meet production deadlines.
Actively engages in design process providing critical insight and direction to the Engineering team through concept to dredge completion.
Maintains all maintenance, repair and testing records of machinery at a first class mechanic level in the dredging industry.
Comprehends and implements detailed written and oral instructions; demonstrates proper judgment and decision making skills.
Completes all work assignments in a timely fashion with minimum supervision.
Orders required parts as needed for repairs or assembly of parts.
Replaces, repairs, assembles and test parts used in the dredging construction industry.
Diagnoses mechanical problems and makes repairs and/or rebuilds machinery associated with dredging industry.
Conducts prevention maintenance/repairs to all departmental machinery.
Reads and understands drawings, design specifications and manufacturer instructions to repair, install and test machinery used in the dredging industry.
Maintains an updated journal of work progress on all jobs.
Collaborates with DSC Engineers and/or external contractors to plan and implement installation of new equipment.
Oversees the Millwirght Department at the Reserve work location, managing all aspects of employee relations as it relates to this team (i.e., hiring, performance management, time off requests, training, etc.).
Oversees and assures that quality standards are met for all components throughout dredge assembly. Initiates internal quality tests and runs all components before final testing. Provides assistance to Engineering and Quality Assurance teams during final testing.
Operates all dredge-related machinery (i.e., cranes, etc.).
Maintains a clean, safe and organized work area at all times.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Valid Louisiana Driver’s License.
Knowledge in the use of job related testing and alignment instruments such as, dial indicators, filler gages, calipers, etc.
Knowledge of fluid mechanics (hydraulics and pneumatics), and all of the components involved in these processes, such as valves, cylinders, pumps and compressors.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using while numbers common fractions and decimals.
Comprehensive knowledge of rigging and handling heavy loads with cranes and forklifts.
Job related knowledge of dredge, dredge equipment and dredge construction.
Own a complete set of mechanic tools, to include required hand and pneumatic tools to work on large construction type equipment as well as tools to repair smaller type automotive vehicles, include tools up to and including ” drive.
Obtain all required trainings and certifications required for Maintenance Mechanic Foreman and those required to access customer sites (as required).
Trained in Lock/Out Tag Out Procedures, Fall Arrest, Confined Space and Ladder Safety (on-the-job training if necessary).
Must be able to successfully pass all pre-employment testing (drug test, physical, audiogram, pulmonary function test, respiratory fit test) in addition to random drug and alcohol testing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED
5-7 years of applicable Millwright experience in a similar industry
2 years of management experience
