Healthcare Coding and Consulting Services (HCCS) is seeking an experienced and certified Observation Coder (OBS) to join our team. This is a remote, full-time, direct-hire W-2 position offering stability, full benefits, and the opportunity to be part of a company that truly values its coders. Please note that this is for Observation on the Facility side, not Pro Fee.
At HCCS, we hire coders based on their specialties and experience, ensuring you're matched to the chart types and facilities where you’re most proficient. You’ll be responsible for coding accurately by chart type, mastering the systems in use, and consistently meeting productivity and quality goals. Our coders collaborate closely with our Coding and Scheduling Managers to support optimal workflows and exceed expectations.
At HCCS, we do not offshore any coding work. We proudly keep all operations within the U.S., supporting American coders and maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, compliance, and quality.
What We Look for in an OBS Coder:
We are seeking candidates who bring a solid track record of high-quality production coding, specifically:
A minimum of 3 years of Observation coding experience
At least 3 years of production coding experience in a fast-paced environment
Recent coding experience within the past 6 months
3+ years of injections and infusions coding experience
Strong proficiency in ED-F (Emergency Department Facility) coding
Proficiency in surgical coding
A current coding certification from AHIMA or AAPC (CPC-A and CCA certifications are not accepted or considered)
