Job Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the front-line staff in customer service and processing responsibilities within a fast paced, technology driven billing and collections office. This position serves as a liaison for the department, maintaining a cooperative partnership between the front line and other key student-centered offices such as the Financial Aid Office, Admissions and the Registrar’s Office in order to promote student success.
Customer service will encompass communications in person, by phone, email, and written letter with a diverse population, including students, parents, staff, faculty, and the community. This may include maintaining department dedicated webpages, regularly handling escalated inquiries and serve as the first point of contact for the front line. Staff scheduling, consistent training and relationship maintenance with office staff will be key while also hiring and supervising student workers to support office functions. The Student Accounts Coordinator will assist in preparing and carrying out presentations to represent the Student Accounts Office at community and new student programs such as orientation.
Processing responsibilities will include preparing journal entries, ensuring proper posting of incoming payments, correcting payment plans, managing service indicators, processing deferments, overseeing entries for external scholarships and specialized programs.
Some evenings and weekend events will be required as needed throughout the year.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum 5 years customer service experience
Minimum 3 years cash handling, billing, or accounting experience
High proficiency in computers with emphasis on Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams) and video conferencing
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Minimum 3 years supervision experience
Demonstrated experience in working with diverse populations
Significant experience in high volume environments with the ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a Student Accounts/Bursar or Financial Aid Office
Working knowledge of Title IV and FERPA regulations
Experience with Touchnet, Banner or other student information systems (SIS)
Experience carrying out conflict mediation and de-escalation practices
Public speaking experience
Bilingual with ability to read, write and speak second language

The starting salary for this position is $54,435.00, based on the SCUPA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
