Job Description
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate Tanker Truck according to state and federal laws and observing all safety regulations established by the Company and DOT.
Pick liquid products up from our customers, transporting to and dumping liquid products at a designated Company facility.
Ensure contents are properly secured inside of truck to prevent leakage and make sure trailer is mechanically ready for pick-up and transportation.
Ensure you are hooked to the proper port at Customer sites.
Reseal all empty tankers after unloading.
Wear all proper safety equipment, footwear, gloves, etc.
Always use 3-point contact with grab handles or ladders when ascending and descending from truck and trailer.
Must be able to drive in all-weather conditions.
Map pick-up routes to ensure timely service.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle, including confirmation of proper 5th wheel connection.
Maintain detailed driving logs.
Immediately notify supervisor of any minor or major maintenance or safety issues and accidents.
Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:
Possess a current Class A CDL in good standing, current DOT medical card, and current Tanker Endorsement.
Clean MVR with no DUIs, no major violations, and no more than a combo of 3 at-fault accidents or violations in the past 3 years
Must be able to drive a manual, aka "stick shift" on a CDL-A vehicle
Must be able to pass an extensive DOT drug screening, which includes urine, hair and breath alcohol testing
Must be willing to work Saturdays
Must be comfortable driving CDL tractor-trailers of 13 speeds or higher
Must be willing to submit to a criminal background check
Must be eligible to work in the United States
Must be able to follow instructions, take directions well and be able to adapt to changes in the operation.
Must be a strong team player willing to help wherever necessary and have a "can do" attitude.
Must have a strong work ethic and be able to remain busy the entire day, looking for new tasks or where else to help when your tasks are completed.
Must be able to work well in a high volume, fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Strength: Tanker drivers need to be able to lift and carry heavy loads, and to push and pull. For example, a tanker driver needs to be able to lift or move hoses and fittings that weigh up to 50 pounds without assistance frequently and carry up to 150 pounds with assistance.
Mobility: Tanker drivers need to be able to bend, stoop, crouch, squat, twist.
Balance: Tanker drivers need to be able to climb in and out of the cab, on and off the trailer, and up and down a fixed ladder.
Dexterity: Tanker drivers need to have manual dexterity to operate hand tools.
Vision and hearing: Tanker drivers need to have good eyesight and hearing.
Blood pressure and blood sugar: Tanker drivers need to have healthy blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
Heart health: Tanker drivers need to have a healthy heart and be free of current heart issues.
Sleep: Tanker drivers with sleep apnea may need to demonstrate that it is under control.
