TxDOT Public Transportation Division is looking for a graduate-level intern to support statewide - bicycle and pedestrian initiatives. The intern would assist TxDOT in two primary areas\: 1) administration of a bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure grant program and 2) GIS analysis, including compiling and analyzing bicycle and pedestrian data and developing GIS maps. In this role, the intern would be exposed to current transit planning and active transportation planning efforts, transportation funding, and project development processes, working closely with a small, dynamic team. The position would be part-time year-round at the Department’s Division Headquarters in South Austin. Employees must be comfortable working independently and with minimal direct supervision.

Performs routine administrative support work. Work involves performing a wide range of administrative and office support work for the department. Employees at this level perform assignments following specific instructions and are subject to frequent review by the immediate supervisor.

Essential Duties:

Analyzes data and applies statistical techniques.

Assists in developing and maintaining databases.

Assists in developing project schedules, budgets, requirements, process maps, designs, risk plans, change management plans, and other project management artifacts.

Enters and retrieves data on a personal computer provided by the department.

Prepares, assembles, reviews, and verifies various documents and/or forms.

Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Mandatory\: Bachelor's Degree in a discipline related to area of assignment and currently enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college/university

Experience: No work experience required

Other Conditions:

Must be at least 16 years of age, and currently enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college/university.

Employees at least 18 years of age with valid driver's license may be assigned driving duties and may use power tools.
