Eastern Florida State College is currently seeking applications for the full-time position of Dean of Science, Engineering, and Math on the Cocoa Campus in Cocoa, Florida.

The Dean of Science, Engineering, and Math provides strategic leadership, oversight, and administrative direction for all programs within the division. The Dean exercises leadership in planning, organizing, directing, and assessing programs and processes to promote excellence in instruction and provides overall direction, leadership, supervision, and evaluation for staff and Collegewide Chairs for programs, operations, and activities. The Dean is responsible for driving academic excellence, student success, faculty development, and innovative program growth in alignment with the institution’s mission and program goals. As Campus Administrator, the Dean serves as the chief administrative officer of the campus, providing leadership and direction to promote the creation and maintenance of a learner-centered campus community.

The following minimum qualifications for this position must be met before any applicant will be considered:

Doctorate degree from a regionally accredited institution in a Science, Engineering, or Math related discipline.

A record of scholarly and/or professional achievement.

Three years in administrative leadership at an institution of higher education.

Three years of experience teaching in a Science, Engineering, or Math related discipline.

Ability to read, analyze, interpret procedures, manuals, governmental regulations, contracts.

Problem-solving skills in a variety of situations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedures, manuals.

Professional and informed interaction with students, parents, community members.

Exceptional communication skills (oral and written); effective presentation of information.

Proficient in use of email, Microsoft software, current student software.

Evidence of accuracy, attention to detail, efficiency, and confidentiality in past positions.

Valid Florida Motor Vehicle Operator’s license required.

This position will require successful fingerprinting and the candidate chosen will be required to pay the associated fee (currently $36.00). This fingerprinting fee ($36.00) is non-refundable.

*High School Diploma or GED or transcripts or official transcripts of all collegiate work (as appropriate for the position) must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Human Resources Office prior to the first day of employment. All foreign degrees must have a course-by-course official evaluation and translation sent to the Human Resources Office directly from an evaluation company affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc.

Minimum physical qualifications:

Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.

Ability to lift, push, pull, or move up to 20 pounds.

Ability to access, input, and retrieve information and/or data from computer.

Ability to sit for long periods of time.

Occasional travel to other campuses or outside meetings.

The annual salary is $100,000. Successful internal candidates for external job postings should be aware that their current salary does not transfer to the new position. Salary will be as advertised in the job announcement. Full-time employees of Eastern Florida State College receive fringe benefits including health insurance and a retirement plan.
