District Partners is supporting a long-standing government integrator in the search for a seasoned Full Stack Java Developer. This individual must be technically hands-on, with the ability to step into a lead developer role once up to speed. You’ll be instrumental in building and scaling applications used by U.S. Customs and Border Protection—mission-critical systems supporting national operations.
Title: Full Stack Java Developer (Lead-Capable)
Location: Hybrid Ashburn, Va.

What You’ll Do:
Develop and maintain scalable full-stack applications
Build and manage RESTful APIs and microservices
Design and optimize SQL/NoSQL database schemas
Lead and mentor developers in an agile environment
Participate in architecture decisions and code reviews
Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments
Champion application security, performance, and scalability
Must-Have Technical Experience:
Backend: Java 8+, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Hibernate, JPA, Spring Security
Frontend: React, Angular, or Vue.js; JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3
Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis
Tools & Infrastructure: Docker, Kubernetes, Maven/Gradle, Git
Web Technologies: REST, JSON, XML, HTTP/HTTPS
Testing: JUnit, Mockito, integration testing suites
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years of full-stack development experience
Experience with CI/CD (Jenkins, GitLab CI) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Familiarity with message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka)
Agile/Scrum methodology experience
Strong understanding of software architecture and design patterns
