A manual machine operator operates and maintains various types of manual machines in a manufacturing or production setting. Their primary duty is to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the machines they work with.

We are seeking machine operators to join our team! You will help operate machines and ensure excellent quality control.

Machine Operation

Set up, operate, and adjust manual machines such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, or saws according to work orders, blueprints, or specifications.

This involves loading raw materials, selecting appropriate tools, and monitoring machine performance to ensure accurate and quality production.

Oversee and coordinate machine operations and activities

Operate a variety of machines and tools to produce quality parts.

2. Safety Compliance

Follow safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.

Adhere to safety protocols, such as wearing protective equipment, operating machines within safe parameters, and identifying potential hazards or malfunctions.

3. Machine Maintenance:

Perform routine maintenance tasks on manual machines, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting components to ensure optimal functionality.

Detect and report any machine malfunctions or abnormalities to supervisors or maintenance personnel.

4. Quality Control:

Must be able to inspect and be responsible for the quality of work produced

Monitor product output to ensure it meets quality standards.

Inspect finished parts for defects, measure dimensions using precision instruments, and make necessary adjustments to maintain desired specifications.

5. Material Handling:

Handle raw materials, such as metal or plastic, safely and efficiently.

Load and unload materials onto machines, position workpieces using clamps, vices, or fixtures, and transport finished products to designated areas.

6. Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of production activities, including quantities produced, materials used, and any issues encountered.

Complete production reports, work orders, or other required documentation as necessary.

7. Troubleshooting:

Identify and resolve common machine issues or production problems.

Perform basic troubleshooting and minor repairs, such as replacing cutting tools, adjusting machine settings, or clearing machine jams.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely fashion

8. Continuous Improvement:

Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, quality, or safety.

Collaborate with supervisors or engineering personnel to optimize machine performance or develop new procedures.

Provide solutions to improve production efficiency

9. Teamwork:

Collaborate effectively with coworkers and supervisors to achieve production goals.

Communicate any issues, concerns, or ideas for improvement to the appropriate personnel.

10. Adherence to Regulations:

Comply with relevant regulations, standards, or procedures, such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines or company policies.Requirements:

Qualifications:

· Previous experience in manufacturing operations or other related fields preferred, but not necessary

· Familiarity with manufacturing tools and equipment but not necessary

· Ability to learn Shop Mathematics

· Critical thinking skills

· Able to handle physical workload

· Able to lift to 50 pounds

· Able to stand for long periods (8 – 10 hour shifts)

Work Environment:

· Must feel comfortable with a fast-paced environment

· Must be able to work effectively with little or no supervision

· Must be a team player

· Must be able to self-report

· Must feel comfortable with loud noises or constant machine noises

· Ability to come into work on time

Education:

· High school diploma or GED equivalent
