Position Title: Assistant Vineyard Manager
Location: Trump Winery in Charlottesville, VA - 15 minutes south of Charlottesville city limits, 20 minutes north of Scottsville, VA
Hours: Full-time, regularly scheduled 40 hours/week; Typically Monday – Friday, variable during the growing season based on weather. Some weekend hours are required during peak season
Wage: Depends on experience

Essential Duties:
Vineyard duties including but not limited to planting, pruning, canopy management, trellis installation and repair, and harvesting
Must be mechanically inclined, to help troubleshoot and ensure vineyard equipment's safe operation and maintenance.
Operates agricultural equipment including implements, tractors, sprayers, ATVs, forklifts
Train, direct, and motivate less skilled temporary workers.
Understand and comply with any safety requirements and cautions
Knowledge of agricultural chemicals and how to use them safely and correctly.
Ability to work long hours and/or 7 days a week during critical times – harvest
Reliability in attendance and punctuality.
Safely and effectively operate and maintain over-the-row tractors and implements
Heavy Equipment Operation
Assist in maintaining the chemical spray program including health and safety compliance and training, record keeping, proper chemical selection and purchasing, and adherence to spray intervals and worker reentry
Assist in developing an annual farm plan related to pruning and redevelopment strategies, canopy management techniques and timing, and soil fertility
Collect and analyze viticultural data including pruning weights, phenology tracking, crop estimates, tissue testing, berry development, and soil tests
Perform vineyard observations including pest and disease scouting, crop health, and efficiency
Assist in the management and oversight of annual fruit sales including pricing, contracts, deposit, scheduling, and payment
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Science in Viticulture or related Agricultural Science
Bilingual Spanish required
3+ years of previous experience in farming operations, viticulture experience preferred, preferably in environments managing 50+ acres of wine grapes.
Experience in the operation of over-the-row tractors and heavy equipment.
Strong math skills required. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
Works on feet for eight hours a day. Ability to work long hours and/or seven days a week during critical times. Able to push, pull, carry, and lift up to 70 pounds. Frequently bends over, kneels, twists, reaches overhead, climbs stairs, ladders, and walks varied surfaces (paved, incline, uneven, etc).
Valid Driver’s License and clean motor vehicle report
