Description:

The Wexner Center for the Arts seeks a highly motivated and outgoing student intern to serve as the Membership and Engagement Intern within the Advancement department generally on-site from mid-August 2025 to early May 2026.

This role reports to Audrey Rush, Director of Corporate and Individual Programs (), and works closely with the Membership Manager.

The intern will assist in the growth of student membership and strengthen member engagement across campus and the broader community. This position offers a valuable opportunity to applicants interested in pursuing arts administration, audience development, customer service, event planning, and nonprofit membership strategy.

In addition to departmental responsibilities, all Wexner Center interns participate in a center-wide internship cohort. To support this cohort, the Learning and Public Programs department offers professional development sessions and gatherings that interns are expected to attend on-site throughout their internship. We gather feedback on the internship program as a whole and seek to foster a collaborative and generative environment for all interns.

Responsibilities:

Build student membership enrollment through outreach initiatives, tabling, and personalized follow-up.

Engage with visitors in the Wexner Center lobby to promote member benefits and answer general inquiries through regular weekday tabling.

Use our (CRM) Customer Relationship Management database 'Tessitura' which helps run cultural arts organizations.

Place telephone calls to current, lapsed, and prospective members to encourage renewals and provide information about upcoming events and programs.

Support membership events, including list pulls, event setup, attendee registration, and guest engagement based on availability.

Assist with event planning logistics, gaining practical experience in event coordination.

Represent the Wexner Center with professionalism and enthusiasm, cultivating a welcoming environment for members and guests.

Required Qualifications:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Enthusiasm for the arts and a commitment to the Wexner Center’s mission.

Comfortable speaking with diverse audiences and working independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

Any prior experience with community organizations that are based on memberships, community and donor engagement/philanthropic-giving, using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software is a plus!

Additional Information:

* Candidates must be at least 18 years of age. Wex internships are open to:

Students currently enrolled at The Ohio State University, graduate students who are Not working in GA, nor Fellowship positions this Fall, and international students are welcome.

Intern Duration: This internship runs for 1 school year from mid-August 2025 through early May 2026. Start date TBD: between 8/18 to 8/26/25.

Location: Work is performed on-site at the Wexner Center for the Arts. Columbus campus.

Hours: Estimated 5–12 work hours per week.

Compensation: Pay range is $13.00 - $14.00/hr. The offer will fall within this range based on the available budget, the selected candidate's qualifications, and internal equity.

The Wex can also support and document work for course credit through the candidate’s home academic unit in lieu of monetary compensation, if preferred.
