An opportunity exists for an Optical Calibration Engineer to join a team that ensures the precision and reliability of optical measurements. The candidate will ensure the precision and accuracy of optical test instruments and systems through the development and application of meticulous calibration processes.
Responsibilities:
Research and Development: Develop new calibration techniques and improve existing methods for optical test instrumentation. Stay updated on advancements in optical technologies and incorporate best practices.
Calibration Processes: Execute and refine calibration procedures for various optical instruments, including lasers, optical power meters, polarizers, and cameras.
Data Analysis: Analyze calibration data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas of improvement. Apply statistical methods to ensure the reliability and validity of calibration results.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of calibration strategy, tests, results, and corrective actions. Prepare detailed reports and manuals for calibration processes.
Quality Assurance: Implement and enforce quality assurance protocols to meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Training: Provide training and guidance to technical staff on proper calibration techniques and the use of optical instruments. Develop training materials and workshops. Education/experience:
Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Physics or related discipline; master's degree is preferred; certifications in optical engineering are a plus
7+ years experience in the following: o In-depth knowledge of optical principles, calibration techniques and industry standards.
o Proven experience in optical calibration, preferably in semiconductor manufacturing and testing or a related industry.
o Familiarity with various optical instruments and calibration standards used in telecom products (O-band to L-band): laser sources, single mode (SM) and polarization maintaining (PM) fibers, polarizers, optical switches, optical connectors (both hand-mate and blind-mate), optical amplifiers, and fiber alignment units (FAUs).
o Use of optical test systems for wafer probing of silicon photonics devices is preferred.
o Development, use, and debug of optical active alignment systems is preferred.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to tackle complex technical challenges and develop innovative solutions
Proficiency in data analysis software
