Fencing Laborer

Position guide: Picket Mill Piler/Stacker Introduction This procedure outlines the requirements, reporting relationships, authority, responsibilities, and measurements of performance for the Picket Mill Piler/StackerFunctional Role The basic function of the Picket Mill Piler/Stacker is to stack and pile lumber of different lengths and grade, and trim and grade cutbacks.

Requirements EducationRequired: High School diploma or equivalentPreferred: College Degree in manufacturing or engineering.

ExperienceRequired: A minimum of 2 yearâ s experience in cedar sawmill manufacturing facility.Preferred: A minimum of 3 years of experience in cedar sawmill manufacturing facility with fencing background.

Skill, Knowledge, and AbilitiesMust be able to work in a team environment and communicate well with otherâ s.

Good mechanical skills to ensure proper maintenance of all equipment in Picket Mill.

Good analytical skills required to ensure grade meets Katahdin Forest Products quality standards.

Physical Requirements Some lifting, pulling, and twisting are associated with different aspects of job.

Long periods of standing in a specific position, and walking back and forth are associated with this job.

Good vision needed for grading of finished product.

Working Conditions Picket Mill area will lead to exposure to a noisy and dusty work area.

Exposure to cold weather will be limited.

Reporting Relationships Picket Mill Piler/Stacker will report directly to the Picker Mill Crew Chief.

The following Production Personnel will report directly to the Picket Mill Crew Chief: Planer Operator, Pointer, Grader, and Piler/Stacker.

ResponsibilitiesEnsure Grade of Finished Product exceeds Katahdin Forest Products standards to ensure customer satisfaction.

Ensure all finished products are strapped and packaged in a timely fashion.

Ensure crew chief is notified of any flaw in finished product.

Ensure Picket Mill area is cleaned on a regular basis as directed by the Picket Mill Crew Chief Ensure all equipment in Picket Mill is maintained to perform at top production levels by regular equipment maintenance.

Maintain existing quality control standards to ensure customer satisfaction.

Ensure all personnel in Planer and Grinder dept follow company rules and policy.

Be a team player and communicate with appropriate personnel to achieve maximum efficiency.

Ensure that Katahdin Forest Products Sexual Harassment policy is in place and followed by all personnel.

Maintain employee morale at highest level possible.

Provide at all times a safe and healthy work area.

Ensure that all Personnel are working in a productive manner during down time.

Complete any additional assignments as directed by the Picket Mill Crew Chief.

Duties Meet or exceed production schedules while maintaining quality standardâ s established by Katahdin Forest.

Make sure any new personnel have received training to ensure their safety and work productively.

Lead by example, by ensuring that all personnel are starting and stopping at appropriate times as set by Katahdin Forest.

Stack and Pile Finished Product by specific length and grade.

Prepare side pieces for packaging of finished product.

Strap and package finished product for shipment.

Clean up work area at scheduled time, and on a regular basis.

Shovel snow off incoming packs, or when needed.

Perform light maintenance as directed by the Crew Chief, such as greasing equipment.Ensure that all supplies are used properly and held at proper levels to ensure productivity at all levels.

Complete any additional duties as directed by the Picket Mill Crew Chief.

Measurements of Performance Grade Finished Product to standards as set by Katahdin Forest Products to ensure quality and customer satisfaction.

Stacked and piled finished product by specific length and grade.

Prepared side pieces for packaging of finished product.

Strapped and packaged finished product for shipment.

Cleaned up work area at scheduled time and on a regular basis.

Shoveled snow off incoming wood, or when needed.

Performed light maintenance as directed by the Crew Chief, such as greasing equipment.

Production schedules were met in a timely fashion.

Quality control standards were met or exceeded.

Equipment was maintained on a regular basis to ensure minimal downtime.

Displayed proper leadership and team player abilities.

Maintained employee morale at a high level.

Kept downtime and change over time productive time for all personnel.

All personnel were trained properly to ensure their productivity and safety.

Crew started and stopped at appropriate times as set by Katahdin Forest.

Supplies were available and kept at acceptable levels.

Maintained a positive attitude and cooperative working relationship with all fellow employees.

Any additional duties assigned by the Picket Mill Crew Chief.
