Job Title: LMS CTE Teacher (Computer Science or Family and Consumer Science)
Reports to: Building Principal/CTE Director
Bargaining Group: Clarkston Education Association (CEA)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Terms of Employment: 1.0 FTE, 7.5 Hours per Day - Per Bargaining Agreement / Salary Placement based for the 2025-2026 School Year, currently $57,302-$103,899 as well as 11 extended dates at per diem
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Valid Washington State Career and Technical Educator (CTE) Certificate
Computer Science, Family and Consumer Science, or STEM CTE Endorsement
Successful Washington State Patrol check and FBI Fingerprint Clearance Report and Disclosure Statement in accordance with state law
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Knowledge of subject matter/course content and resources relevant to assignment
Knowledge of and skills in using effective instructional strategies and practices
Knowledge of and skills in implementing various formative and summative assessments
Knowledge of entry-level positions for students; potential career opportunities; and post-secondary educational opportunities in the CTE-technical program area
Skills in effective planning and implementation of lessons based upon individual student needs
Skills in managing and promoting positive student behavior
Skills in data analysis to assess, monitor, and inform instruction for student growth
Skills and abilities in organization, time management, and record keeping
Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations
Works well with others from diverse backgrounds
Demonstrated ability to successfully work with and teach students and staff
Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, IEPs, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, governmental regulations and professional journals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Evidence of strong content area instructional capabilities at the middle school level
Evidence of providing for student individual learning styles
Evidence of training and experience utilizing computer technology for word processing, grading, recording attendance, communicating by e-mail, and implementing these computer programs into daily use in the classroom
Evidence of motivating and instructing students of all ability levels with emphasis on providing for their individual learning styles-basic levels to extensions beyond basics
Evidence of maintaining a positive, productive learning climate within the classroom as well as with parents and colleagues
Letters of reference verifying experience and/or documented training
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES:
Essential Duties:
Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter; center instruction on high expectations for student achievement and demonstrate effective teaching practices
Use multiple student data elements for the purpose of assessing student progress, modifying instruction and improving student learning
Communicate and collaborate with parents and the school community for the purpose of fostering individual student success and growth while engaging the families in the instructional program
Exhibit collaborative and collegial practices focused on improving instructional practice and student learning by participating in professional learning communities, showing professionalism, and growing professionally
Plan, organize, and teach a competency-based CTE program in either Computer Science of Family and Consumer Science
Manage and advise a student leadership organization and incorporate leadership activities into the business and technology curriculum
Develop and maintain program budgets following district and building guidelines
Foster and manage a safe, positive, and respectful learning environment for the purpose of promoting effective student behavior and success
Demonstrate effective classroom and computer lab management
Assist in development of and participate in activities designed to promote an innovative computer science or family and consumer science program
Develop community and industry partnerships for students
Demonstrate a professional commitment to CTE innovation
Order supplies, instructional materials, and equipment necessary for the program
Provide information and counsel students relative to employment, career opportunities and further education
Participate in district, regional and state CTE meetings, including student leadership organizations
Participation in student leadership organization required at the local, regional, and state levels
Create, refine, and update Computer Science or Family and Consumer Science CTE OSPI approved frameworks, including Common Core Skills and Assessments and Smarter-Balanced Assessment
Maintain consistent attendance and conform to regular work hours specified under contract
Share with other staff members the responsibility for school activities and student supervision
Implement and comply with District policies and procedures
Perform appropriate tasks as designated by the principal in relation to the responsibilities listed above
Other Duties:
Establish and Advise a Middle School Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) such as SkillsUSA,FCCLA,TSA etc
Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs, curriculum development meetings and other professional activities
Creates an effective learning environment through student recruitment, dynamic learning opportunities, and student relationships
Performs other duties as assigned by principal or appropriate administrator
Supervisory Responsibilities: May include instructional assistants, volunteers, tutors

Physical:
Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
