The City of Erlanger, KY Fire/EMS Department is conducting a City of Erlanger funded internship program.
Applications will be accepted until June 23, 2025 at 5pm.
This program is a "tuition in exchange for service" program. The program is intended to give the intern participant the opportunity to gain experience and training in the rewarding Fire/EMS service field. The Erlanger Fire/EMS department is a department in Kenton County, KY which has an area of operation that encompasses interstate, industrial, retail, and residential areas. The Erlanger Fire/EMS department has a run volume of 4,000+ runs per year. We operate 2 frontline engines, 2 ambulances, and 1 Battalion Chief. The Erlanger Fire/EMS department is served by full-time employees, which include 10 full-time staff members per shift.
After a short orientation, the interns will be assigned one of the 3 shifts and work a 24-hour shift every 6th day. The interns will spend shifts on both Fire and EMS apparatus. The intern program is a way for the department to invest in the community to increase recruitment opportunities and increase opportunity for higher education. Interns will be expected to respond with on-duty crews to various types of emergency situations, attend public education events, and other shift duties.
