Job Overview

A busy Indian restaurant in Whitehorse is hiring Food Prep Assistants to support kitchen staff with food handling and daily prep tasks. This position involves working closely with cooks to ensure smooth kitchen operations in a fast-paced, authentic Indian food environment.

Key Duties

Clean and chop vegetables, herbs, and spices needed for Indian recipes like butter chicken, dal, and pakoras

Prepare basic food ingredients such as rice, dough, and sauces

Support in setting up kitchen stations and restocking cooking supplies

Maintain dishwashing area and clean dishes, glassware, and kitchen equipment

Ensure kitchen floors, counters, and storage areas are kept clean and sanitized

Package take-out orders and assist with portioning during busy hours

Assist with unloading deliveries and storing inventory in coolers and shelves

Follow hygiene, safety, and kitchen cleanliness protocols at all times

Job Requirements

Experience working in a kitchen or restaurant is preferred but not required

Must be physically fit, able to stand for long hours and lift up to 25 lbs

Familiarity with Indian food and ingredients (preferred)

Willingness to learn new kitchen tasks and follow instructions accurately

Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented attitude
