Job Summary
Information Technology Specialist is a key member of the City’s IT team, responsible for providing Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support while also managing critical infrastructure and systems. This role supports daily help desk functions and leads efforts to modernize the City's technology ecosystem, transitioning toward a cloud-first architecture with on-premises services retained for resiliency. The position also supports citywide IT projects, cybersecurity initiatives, and user training. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Chief Technology and Innovation Officer.
Essential Job Functions
Installs and updates City software and hardware as needed on all City equipment.
Responsible for implementing updates to the operating system software and applications and monitors security certificates.
OperatestheCity’scommunicationtechnologytoinclude, butnotlimitedtothelocalareanetwork,thewideareanetwork, voice mail, email, fax, telephone, and television.
Serve as the first and second point of contact for user-reported issues related to desktops, laptops, printers, software, connectivity, and city systems. Attempt to resolve incidents at first contact and escalate when necessary.
Set up and configure user workstations and mobile devices, including imaging and remote setup.
Provide remote assistance using tools such as Microsoft Remote Help, RDP, or other City-supported tools.
Assists in maintaining and updating City web pages.
Maintains complete documentation on all hardware and software with logs of system updates, error messages, software malfunctions and solutions.
Prepares videos and recorded meetings for playback on City website.
Assists with maintenance of inventory of all computer hardware and software.
Assistswiththeprotectionandcontinuedoperationofcitywidecomputersystemsduringalocal emergency.
Performsotherdutiesas required.
Minimum Qualifications, Licenses, Certifications
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a combined help desk and system administration role.
Must have a high school diploma.
Must have valid Florida Driving License.
Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Windows Operating systems, including Windows 10 and Server Operating Systems.
CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ or Microsoft certifications (M365, Azure, Server) preferred.
Associate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
Special Requirements
Emergency Response Status: As a condition of employment, City of St. Pete Beach employees may be required to work as directed during an undeclared and/or a declared emergency. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the official job description.

Strong understanding of Microsoft Windows desktop and server OS (Windows 10/11, Server 2016+).
Proficient with Active Directory, Azure AD, GPOs, and identity management concepts.
Experience with Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Purview, and endpoint security tools.
Working knowledge of ADFS, certificate management, and SSO authentication.
Familiarity with ITIL-based service delivery models and ticket tracking platforms.
Basic scripting or task automation (PowerShell, batch scripting) is a plus.
Understanding of networking fundamentals (LAN/WAN, firewalls, VPNs, DNS/DHCP).
Physical and Working Conditions

Primarily office-based with routine onsite support for City facilities
May require occasional after-hours or on-call support for urgent issues.
