We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Developer to support U.S. military Modeling & Simulation (M&S) efforts. This role involves the design, development, integration, and maintenance of simulation systems used for training, analysis, and decision support in defense environments. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in software engineering as well as a strong understanding of military systems, simulation standards, and real-time/constructive simulations.
Key responsibilities:
Design, implement, and maintain simulation software for military training and analysis.
Lead software architecture decisions and mentor junior developers.
Integrate models and simulations with C4ISR systems, data sources, and external interfaces (e.g., DIS, HLA, DDS).
Translate operational military requirements into scalable and reusable software components.
Develop and test simulation scenarios, models, and system behaviors to meet fidelity and performance goals.
Work closely with systems engineers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and military users to validate and verify simulation capabilities.
Ensure compliance with software development standards, security guidelines, and configuration management practices.
Contribute to technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
Required Skills and Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
At least 5 years of software development experience, with at least 2 years in the M&S domain.
Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: C++, C#, Java, or Python.
Experience with simulation frameworks such as HLA (High-Level Architecture), DIS (Distributed Interactive Simulation), or OneSAF, JSAF, VBS, etc.
Familiarity with DoD M&S standards and tools (e.g., STOW, RTI, SISO standards).
Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices (Agile/Scrum, CI/CD, version control).

Preferred Skills and Education
