Job Summary:
ESI is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Architect to design, implement, and manage our organization's data infrastructure. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in shaping our data systems architecture, ensuring data integrity, performance, scalability, and security. This role requires a deep understanding of database technologies, data modeling, and the ability to align database solutions with business requirements.
Must live in Close Proximity to Tallahassee Florida
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure database solutions (relational and non-relational).
Develop and maintain data models (conceptual, logical, and physical) to support business requirements.
Define and enforce database development standards, best practices, and naming conventions.
Collaborate with software developers, data engineers, and business analysts to understand data requirements and translate them into efficient database solutions.
Optimize database performance through indexing, partitioning, query optimization, and system tuning.
Ensure database systems are highly available and disaster recovery procedures are in place.
Evaluate and select appropriate database technologies, tools, and platforms.
Plan for data migration, integration, and ETL processes across systems.
Implement and maintain data security, access controls, and compliance with data governance policies.
Document database architecture, processes, and standards for internal use.
Provide guidance and mentoring to junior database staff or developers.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
Experience:
7+ years of experience in database development and architecture.
Proven experience with major database platforms (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, Cassandra).
Experience with cloud-based data services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL/Firestore).
Solid understanding of data warehousing, data lakes, and big data platforms (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery).
Hands-on experience with database backup, recovery, and high availability configurations.
Skills:
Proficient in SQL and data modeling techniques (ER modeling, normalization).
Strong understanding of database security principles and compliance.
Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD practices related to database deployment.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications such as AWS Certified Database – Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, or similar.
Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) in relation to databases.
Knowledge of data governance, data quality frameworks, and master data management (MDM).
