Amanda Warren with Robert Half is seeking an experienced Controller to join a prominent company in Sacramento, California. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in overseeing financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and implementing effective strategies to optimize the company’s fiscal health. This position requires a strong background in accounting and leadership, with a focus on real estate and property management.
Responsibilities:
• Assist ownership with forecasting cash flow to ensure effective management of working capital and liquidity.
• Provide senior leadership with accurate financial analysis and benchmarking data to support strategic decision-making.
• Oversee entity-level cash accounts, managing activities such as receipts, disbursements, reconciliations, transfers, loan payments, and property tax obligations.
• Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards, internal controls, and applicable laws at federal, state, and local levels.
• Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and regulatory filings while ensuring adherence to lending agreements and debt covenants.
• Supervise financial reporting processes for land, investments, hospitality, and owned real estate to support annual tax preparation.
• Implement efficient office workflows leveraging IT tools and data processing systems.
• Oversee property management accounting functions, ensuring timely reporting and consistent accounts receivable/payable cycles.
• Develop and enforce company-wide financial policies, including tenant and vendor insurance compliance.
• Lead the month-end close process while periodically reviewing and updating accounting procedures to align with evolving tools and needs.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field preferred
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 4 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of internal controls and real estate/property management accounting including CAMS.
• Proficiency in accounting software systems, with experience in AppFolio or Yardi preferred.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Office Suite applications.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
