CNC PROGRAMMER JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACCOUNTABILITY
Programming CNC lathes and mills.
Verifying programs and file maintenance.
Read and interpret engineering blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, to determine dimensions and tolerances of the finished work piece, sequence of operations, tooling programming and setup requirements.
Decides the most efficient method possible to manufacture parts.
Must determine methods, tooling, feeds, speeds, and all other requirements necessary to produce the products placed on NC equipment.
Approves all programs to ensure that they are trouble-free before releasing to manufacturing.
Develops programs for machining parts on NC machine tools for 2, 3, and 4 axis machines.
Prepares instructions for machine set-up and operation for operator.
Handles special projects, as assigned.
Estimates times for production and cost estimates.
Selects best tooling for the job
Work with tooling vendors to understand, test, and implement the latest cutting tool technology
Organize, manage and maintain tooling department
Perform daily 5S activities and participate in lean manufacturing projects

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 5 years CNC programming experience on both CNC Lathes and CNC Mills.
Competent in writing G-code programming for CNC lathes/mills.
Must have experience in either Edgecam or Gibbscam programming software.
Solid Works experience a plus!
Experience working in a job shop environment.
Ability to coach and train others within a manufacturing environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS
Solid Modeling with Solidworks Cad software.
Workholding and fixture design.
Previous machinist background both lathe and mill.
