Location: Peoria IL

Position Type: Full-Time (37.5 hours/week)

Contract Type: School-Based Contract (W-2)

Caseload: 1:1 support for middle schooler

Job Description:

ProCare Therapy is seeking a qualified Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to provide dedicated one-on-one interpreting services for a middle school student in Peoria, IL. This is a full-time, on-site position for the current or upcoming school year. The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing and experienced in working within an educational setting.

Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 interpreting services for a middle school student using American Sign Language (ASL)

Interpret classroom instruction, peer interactions, school activities, and other educational content

Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to support the student's communication and academic needs

Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all educational settings

Follow the students IEP goals and ensure access to the general education curriculum

Qualifications:

Hold a valid Illinois State PEL

EIPA score of 3.5 or higher preferred or RID

Previous experience working with students in a school setting preferred

Strong command of ASL and a deep understanding of Deaf culture

Ability to build rapport with students and staff

Position Details:

Full-time; school hours

One school site (middle school)
