Internal Notice for Teamster Team Members: This posting will create a non-probationary internal Teamster eligibility list and fill 1 vacancy for this classification. The current vacancy is in the PUBLIC WORKS department. The internal Teamster eligibility list will be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification, for up to one hundred and eighty (180) days. Non-probationary Teamster team members successfully completing the selection process will be placed on the internal Teamster eligibility list. All other team members including part-time/temporary employees along with external candidates may apply for this recruitment. These individuals may be considered after the appropriate recruitment process of the collective bargaining agreement has been followed. If the vacancy is not filled through promotion by a full-time non-probationary Teamster team members, the next opportunity for placement will be to hire qualified part-time/temporary employees and external candidates.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

Pay Considerations –The starting hourly pay for this position is $31.58. The selected candidate for this position will start at the beginning of the salary range, no exceptions. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day (36 hour work week), Monday through Thursday, 7:00am to 5:00pm. May be required to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, overtime, stand-by, or call back during off hours to respond to emergencies as required by department needs
THE ROLE
Performs technical paraprofessional office and field engineering work including designing, drafting, plan checking, surveying and related work. Technical supervision is exercised over lower-level technical personnel.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate for this position is a detail-oriented and highly organized technical professional with a strong foundation in civil engineering principles and practices. They possess expertise in drafting, surveying, and reviewing public works and utility plans, ensuring compliance with city codes, standards, and specifications. Has the ability of interpreting complex engineering documents, legal descriptions, and construction plans, and has experience coordinating with internal teams, developers, contractors, and utility companies. Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role, along with proficiency in computer-aided drafting (CAD) and GIS software. The ideal candidate thrives in both independent and team-oriented environments, demonstrates initiative, and has the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in engineering or related field; and,
Four or more years of progressively responsible related experience; or,
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Experience with land development permitting software, computer-aided drafting (CAD), and ESRI is preferred (depending upon division and section assignment).
Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record with the ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame.

Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.
