Machine Operator I

Job Description

Job Summary: Performs work associated with the installation, calibration, and operation of different kinds of production machines, depending on company specialization or materials used.

Job Duties:

Tests and inspects machines to determine safe and efficient operation, performs routine maintenance, and fixes standard malfunctions.

Reads and interprets blueprints, engineering specifications, and shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and sequence of operation.

Checks that items produced pass quality control test.

Attributes

Performs work under direct supervision.

Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.

Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter.

Typically requires a high school diploma and 0 to 2 years of experience.

Reports to

Typically reports to a department head or manager.
