Summary
The Support Technician is responsible for the daily operation of the Learning Resources Computer Lab (LRCL). Duties include providing assistance with computer access and individual support for the Moodle Learning Management System (LMS) and course support software. The Support Technician also administers proctored exams, provides input and maintains statistical usage data for annual reporting, and coordinates with campus Information Technology Services (ITS) department to support maintenance and upkeep on computer systems, copiers and other related peripherals.
Essential Functions
Manage all operations of the LRCL and supervise part-time staff and work study students when assigned.
Provide and oversee technical support to students using Microsoft Office 365 and other course support software, resolve MySCC login issues and assist with navigation of Moodle LMS.
Administer Work Keys and academic test proctoring to students at SCC and other colleges upon request by faculty or students.
Order/replenish operational office supplies and coordinate purchases of computers, hardware, equipment, peripherals and software with the ITS.
Work with the Dean of Learning Resources to provide input for the annual projected budget report (Intensive/Non-intensive review).
Enforce Sandhills Community College’s Acceptable Use Policy.
Coordinate with ITS regarding troubleshooting/work requests regarding Boyd Library and LRCL computer systems, and network functionality issues.
Assist with archival document scanning as time permits.
Maintain current knowledge of technology standards and upgrade skill set through professional development opportunities and required training.
Provide backup support to Boyd Library and ITS service areas as needed.
Demonstrate persistent helpfulness in service to student, faculty, staff and community patron customers.
Qualifications
Position requires an Associate degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or an Associate degree combined with related experience.
Qualified candidate should possess a minimum of two years experience working in a student-centered computer lab setting, with a minimum of 1-3 years indirect supervisory experience.
Knowledge of Windows operating system, Microsoft Office 365, and Moodle LMS, as well as experience and competency in software/ hardware installation and troubleshooting.
Strong customer service background that embodies the SCC core value of helpfulness.
