Job Summary

The quality inspector will be responsible for checking in-process and final inspections to assure the product conforms to drawings and TransTech Energy quality standards.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

Ensure a high level of internal and external communication.

Administer, document, and inspect weld quality and completion to a Weld Procedure (WPS).

Inspect materials to ensure quality and code compliance of Material Test Reports (MTR).

Perform lay-out, fit-up, and dimensional verifications in accordance with approved drawings.

Perform Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) or Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), and Visual Testing (VT) Inspections of welds and base materials.

Coordinate 3rd Party NDE crews.

Document material traceability and inspections daily.

Enter data of pass or fail for determination of quality and reliability expectancy of finished products. (Defect Trackers, Welder Efficiency, Weld Mapping, etc.)

Assist in creating, documenting, and implementing inspection criteria and procedures.

Interpret quality control philosophy to Production and other key personnel within Company.

Perform inspection activity for product throughout production cycle.

May also perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education/Experience:

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a welding manufacturing facility such as pipe, pressure vessels or heavy structural steel.

Minimum 3 years’ experience with fabrication blueprint reading.

Liquid Penetrant or Magnetic Particle Testing helpful.

Minimum 3 years required in related experience of NDE and/or Quality Control

Experience with developing/documenting procedures. (NDE Reports, weld mapping, etc.)

Use of Quality Control methods and tools in inspection. (Fillet gauge, bridge cam, levels, tape measures, calipers etc.)

Must have basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Record-keeping software, etc.)

Must be able to pass Jaeger 2 vision test and color contrast vision test.

Skills:

Welding and Fabrication.

Weld Inspection.

ASME BPVC and AWS Code Interpretation.

Quality orientation and high attention to detail.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Experience working with high performance teams.

Problem analysis and problem resolution skills.
