Job Description
LHH is seeking a proactive and experienced Plant Manager to lead operations at our client’s manufacturing facility. We’re looking for a dynamic leader with a strong foundation in heavy industry—ideally within machinery, automotive, aerospace, or military sectors—who can thrive in a collaborative, unionized environment. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who prioritizes safety, drives performance, and leads with integrity and respect. The anticipated salary for this role is between $170,000-$190,000 a year.
Responsibilities:
· Oversee all aspects of plant operations, including safety, production, quality, and on-time delivery.
· Foster a safety-first culture by addressing past challenges and implementing proactive safety improvements.
· Manage and mentor 8 direct reports while influencing cross-functional teams across HR, maintenance, safety, and finance.
· Build a positive, accountable workplace culture.
· Maintain strong, respectful relationships with union personnel and uphold effective labor practices.
· Lead lean manufacturing efforts to boost operational efficiency, reduce waste, and manage labor costs effectively.
· Coordinate with project management, sales, construction, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless execution and delivery of large-scale products.
· Lead production planning and control in alignment with operational and financial goals.
· Leverage the D365 ERP system to manage daily operations and track performance metrics.
· Partner with HR to forecast staffing needs and maintain appropriate resourcing across shifts.
Qualifications:
· Proven leadership experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment (machinery, automotive, aerospace, military, etc.).
· Engineering degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
· Experience managing teams within a unionized workforce is highly preferred.
· Strong record of building collaborative, high-performing teams with a leadership style grounded in integrity and respect.
· Deep understanding of lean manufacturing principles; Six Sigma certification is a plus.
· Experience in production control and cross-functional coordination.
· Comfortable managing a complex, high-impact operation with a relatively lean team.
