Job Description
We are looking for an experienced VP/Director of Finance to join a dynamic construction company based in Roanoke, Virginia. This leadership role offers the opportunity to oversee financial operations and guide a dedicated team in achieving organizational goals. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in construction-related finance, project costing, and work-in-progress accounting.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and oversee all financial operations, including accounts payable, billing, and project accounting.
• Manage a team of 5-6 finance professionals, fostering collaboration and ensuring accuracy in financial processes.
• Develop and implement effective budgeting strategies to support organizational objectives.
• Conduct thorough audits and financial reviews to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
• Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) accounting and job costing to enhance project profitability.
• Utilize accounting software systems such as SAGE.
• Collaborate with other departments to align financial goals with overall business strategies.
• Prepare detailed financial reports and presentations for executive leadership.
• Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in financial processes and systems.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a finance leadership role, preferably within the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of work-in-progress accounting and job costing methodologies.
• Proficiency in accounting software systems, SAGE
• Demonstrated expertise in accounts payable, auditing, and annual budget preparation.
• Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
• Familiarity with budget processes and financial planning strategies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to work across departments and with executive teams.
