Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our growing team in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting within commercial and residential construction environments. This role will be responsible for job costing, WIP (Work in Progress) reporting, budget-to-actual analysis, and month-end reconciliations. The Senior Accountant will work closely with Project Managers and the Finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting and project performance monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

Job Costing:

Monitor and maintain accurate job cost records for multiple ongoing projects.

Allocate costs appropriately to cost codes and ensure compliance with contract terms.

Work with Project Managers to review and validate job cost details.

WIP Reporting & Analysis:

Prepare and update monthly Work in Progress (WIP) schedules.

Analyze project performance and identify cost overruns or savings.

Collaborate with Project Managers to understand job status and forecast financial outcomes.

Budget-to-Actual Reporting:

Perform monthly variance analysis comparing actuals to project budgets.

Partner with operational teams to investigate and explain variances.

Assist in reforecasting project budgets as needed.

Month-End Close & Reconciliations:

Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and adjustments.

Perform reconciliations for general ledger accounts including cash, AR/AP, and job cost accounts.

Ensure financials are closed timely and accurately each month.

Collaboration & Communication:

Serve as a liaison between accounting and project teams.

Provide financial insight and support for strategic decision-making.

Assist with year-end audit and provide documentation as needed.

• Proven experience in account reconciliation and financial analysis.

• Strong knowledge of balance sheet and bank reconciliation processes.

• Proficiency in managing general ledger and journal entries.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data analysis.

• Familiarity with Sage Intacct or similar accounting software.

• Ability to handle month-end close processes with precision and efficiency.

• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
