Job Description
We're looking for a Full Stack Engineer with a strong focus on backend development to help architect, build, and scale our API and data infrastructure. You’ll work closely with our product, clinical, and AI teams to design database schemas, optimize performance, and integrate with external systems. While you’ll have opportunities to contribute across the stack, your primary responsibility will be owning and evolving the backend systems that power our product.
Onsite in Boston preferred at least 3-4 days/week

Responsibilities:
Design and build robust, secure, and scalable RESTful and GraphQL APIs
Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic
Define and maintain relational database schemas (PostgreSQL or similar)
Drive performance improvements, caching strategies, and API reliability
Integrate with 3rd-party services such as EHRs, payment processors, email/SMS platforms, and analytics tools
Collaborate with frontend engineers to align APIs with the UI and patient/clinician experience
Contribute to and maintain internal documentation and technical design specs
Participate in code reviews, mentoring, and driving engineering best practices
Write and execute unit and integration tests to ensure code quality
Ensure data security, privacy, and HIPAA-compliant design throughout
Stay up-to-date with new technologies and best practices
& Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Have 3+ years of experience building modern web application backends
Are strong in Python (Flask, FastAPI), with production experience scaling APIs
Have deep experience with PostgreSQL (or similar relational DBs), schema design, and query optimization
Are familiar with Docker, ECS, CI/CD pipelines, and modern devops practices
Experience with Javascript and React
Experience with github and version control workflows
Experience with testing frameworks (for ex - pytest, unittest)
Have integrated 3rd-party APIs in production environments
Are product-minded and comfortable balancing speed and technical excellence
Communicate clearly and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative startup environment
Have bonus experience with healthcare systems, FHIR, or HIPAA compliance (not required)
Experience working with LLMs and AI coding tools (for ex - Cursor, Copilot, etc.).
