Job Description:

A part-time IT Architect / Consultant is needed to support the ongoing development and modernization of Utah's Child and Family Services Information System (SAFE). SAFE is a cloud-hosted application built on a modern .NET Core microservices architecture with Angular front-end clients, operating within AWS and using both MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases. This role requires approximately 510 hours per week and plays a critical role in software architecture, mentoring, system design, and optimization

Responsibilities:

Collaborate within Agile development teams to deliver enhancements and new features.

Design and develop scalable, maintainable .NET Core microservices and Angular-based applications.

Provide strategic architecture and design recommendations aligned with long-term goals.

Mentor development team members and support coding best practices through code reviews.

Improve application performance, code quality, and system maintainability.

Optimize and enhance database infrastructure, with a focus on MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL.

Contribute to the integration and optimization of AWS services to ensure high availability, performance, and scalability.

Create detailed technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, design specs, and standards.

Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including documentation and testing.

Required Skills:

Strong experience with .NET Core microservices architecture.

Proficiency in Angular front-end development.

Experience working with AWS cloud infrastructure and services.

Deep knowledge of MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL database design and optimization.

Proven ability to make architectural recommendations in enterprise-scale systems.

Familiarity with Agile methodologies and iterative development.

Ability to mentor developers, conduct code reviews, and promote engineering best practices.

Strong documentation and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
