About the Role
The Preadmissions Testing Nurse-PAT RN is responsible for implementing the Pre-Op holding record (patients’ medical record), and the assimilation of the patients’ hospital record. The pre-admission nurse is also responsible for implementing the nursing process performing needed pre-op testing and providing for the continuity and quality of nursing care for patients.
POSITION’S ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinating registration for any patient requiring pre-admission testing.
Managing patients' admission processes to preoperative department in our hospitals and/or surgical centers.
Coordinating of pre-surgery testing of patients for outpatient surgery and same day surgery.
Assessing the status of patients’ health in pre-op and ensure accuracy of identification wristband.
Ensuring that operative and informed consents are in order.
Determining the surgeon and procedure being carried out.
Taking and recording vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure.
Initiating IVs and ensuring that patients are informed about the procedure and attending medical staff.
Exhibiting the Company Standards of Excellence and always exercises strict confidentiality.
All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in surgery or has completed specialty class for the clinical nurse or as a PACU RN.
Current Texas Nursing License.
Current and active CPR certification.
