Alternatives For Girls is seeking a part-time Assistant Teacher to join its Early Childhood Education Center, Little Dreamers, team.
Schedule: Monday-Friday afternoons, with potential for full-time
Job Summary:
The Assistant Teacher will be responsible for providing education and care to shelter and community children. Under the guidance and supervision of the Teacher and the Director the Assistant Teacher will be responsible monitoring children in the early childhood environment – indoors and outdoors. They are responsible for supporting an educational environment that is developmentally appropriate, nurturing, holistic, and monitoring the ongoing safety of children. The Assistant Teacher should be passionate about leaning and teaching early childhood education curriculum to children between the ages of 0-5.
Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant Teacher will collaborate to ensure the daily care and education of every child, by following all licensing guidelines, Michigan Department of Education Early Childhood Standards of Quality and implementing all company standards.
The Assistant Teacher will help to deliver the plans set by the Teacher and or Director promoting an engaging learning experience in an environment that is organized, clean and promotes learning through discovery.
The Assistant Teacher will attend all staff training sessions, meetings and programs sponsored by the Center, as required.
The Assistant Teacher will complete all training per licensing and Great Start to Quality guidelines and the CDA career path (Child Development Associate) from the Council for Professional Recognition.
The Assistant Teacher will help with meal and snack preparation, feeding, modeling table manners at family style meal, diapering, toileting, and daily care routines of the children all while being nurturing, supportive and developmentally appropriate.
The Assistant Teacher will help support the classroom environment including required health and safety sanitation, cleaning, and preparation in collaboration with the classroom teaching team.
The Assistant Teacher will engage with families in a respectful manner noting that parents are the first teachers of children.
The Assistant Teacher will engage in professional development weekly sessions with the Director to discuss development, early childhood education and career pathways.
Performs other related duties as assigned by Lead Teachers and or Director.
Demonstrated Abilities:
An interest in the field of Early Childhood Education and a passion for AFG programs and initiatives.
Ability to set priorities, take initiative, and meet deadlines, working both individually and on a team.
Strong communication skills, exhibiting diplomacy and tact.
Requirements:
Must be available to work non-traditional hours i.e. (between 5:00am and 9:00 pm)
Must be at least eighteen years of age with an interest in early childhood education as a career path.
Current or former participants of AFG programming is a preferred qualification.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred
Part-time
