The Northwest School is an independent day and boarding school. We serve students in grades 6 to 12 on an urban campus in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood. We provide an interdisciplinary liberal arts education that nurtures compassionate, globally aware and environmentally conscious individuals who find joy in learning and are ready to inspire and innovate in our interconnected world.

The Learning Resources Coordinators plays a critical role in supporting students with learning differences and fostering inclusive academic practices across grades 6–8. In partnership with teachers, families, and student support colleagues, the coordinator ensures students develop as independent learners and self-advocates. This role involves both direct student support and collaboration with faculty to promote culturally responsive, research-based instructional strategies that support all learners.

The Northwest School is looking for 2 LRS for middle school & Upper School at a .92 FTE ( 11-month positon, off in July)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Student Support and Learning Plans

Develop, implement, and revise Learning Support Plans (LSPs) for students with documented learning needs.

Conduct regular student check-ins to support academic skills, executive functioning, and self-advocacy.

Track student progress and adjust supports as needed.

Provide coordination of accommodations and supports to faculty for students with Learning Support Plans

Serve as a liaison between families, external evaluators, and the school regarding psychoeducational assessments and support recommendations.

Faculty Collaboration and Inclusive Practices

Partner with faculty to design and implement differentiated, culturally responsive, and research-based instructional strategies.

Provide coaching, modeling, and classroom consultation aligned with Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

Lead professional development related to learning differences, inclusive practices, and executive functioning.

Executive Function and Academic Resource Center (ARC) Programming

Develop and support executive functioning initiatives such as planner checks, prioritization coaching, and organization systems.

Maintain a regular presence in the Academic Resource Center to support students and monitor trends in service use.

Oversee and support tutorial systems, study halls, and Peer Academic Leaders (PALs) where applicable.

Family Engagement and Community Communication

Communicate LSPs, accommodations, and student progress to families with clarity and empathy.

Interpret evaluation reports and support families through external referrals and testing processes.

Represent Learning Resources in admissions processes

Cross-Divisional and Team Collaboration

Collaborate with other Learning Coordinators and Director/Associate Director of Student Success to ensure program coherence and vertical alignment.

Participate in weekly Student Success Team (SST) meetings and grade-level team meetings to support holistic student well-being.

Partner with Counseling and DEI departments to offer integrated support.

Advisory and Community Participation

Serve as an advisor and participate in advisory programming to foster student connection and support.

Support academic check-ins and interventions at the grade level in collaboration with advisors and grade-level teams.

Attend and contribute to faculty meetings, departmental work, and ongoing community-building initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of The Northwest School, particularly around equity, inclusion, and social justice.

Professional expertise in learning differences, executive functioning, differentiated instruction, and culturally responsive teaching.

Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, or a related field, plus a minimum of four years relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

Ability to differentiate instruction, including working with students with language disorders and learning differences

Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills.

Proven ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, families, and interdisciplinary teams.

Experience designing and delivering professional development preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree, license, and certification is preferred

Assistive Technology background is a plus

Compensation:

The salary range is $75,000 - $85,000 based on education and years of experience. This is an 11-month .92 FTE position eligible benefit.
