About Inside & Out

Inside & Out is a web development studio based in Fife — just 30 minutes from Edinburgh. We’ve been building websites, apps, and digital tools for over 20 years, specialising in custom Laravel and WordPress projects, mobile apps, APIs, and SaaS platforms. Our clients span hospitality, education, and other forward-thinking sectors, and we pride ourselves on clean code, great UX, and long-term partnerships.

What You’ll Be Doing

We're looking for a talented front-end developer with a good eye for detail and a solid understanding of SEO and web performance best practices.

You’ll be translating custom designs into clean, responsive, accessible websites — mostly WordPress builds, with the occasional Laravel project.

You’ll work closely with our creative and dev teams to bring ideas to life and ensure everything runs smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

· Build responsive, fast-loading websites from Figma designs

· Develop WordPress themes

· Collaborate with designers and backend developers to deliver high-quality sites

· Implement SEO best practices — page speed, schema, sitemaps, metadata

· Work with tools like Google Search Console and Google Analytics

· Optimise pages for performance, UX, and conversion

· Occasionally support email marketing templates and Google Ads landing pages

· Keep up to date with the latest in front-end and web marketing trends

· Collaborate on planning, share ideas, and improve how we work

Skills You’ll Need

Solid HTML5, CSS/SCSS, and modern JavaScript (ES6+)

Experience with Tailwind or Bootstrap

Strong WordPress theme development skills

Confident working with PHP and MySQL

Good understanding of SEO fundamentals (technical + on-page)

Familiarity with Google tools (GA, GSC, Tag Manager)

Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) and Core Web Vitals

A good eye for spacing, typography, and design consistency

Confident using Git and task runners like Gulp/Vite

Able to manage your own workload and contribute to team progress

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Nice-to-Haves

Experience with Laravel (not essential but handy)

Basic familiarity with Google Ads or paid social landing page needs

Working knowledge of ACF, Elementor, or Gutenberg Blocks

Experience with conversion tracking and event tagging

Interest in UX, UI, or CRO testing

Why Join Us?

Hybrid working – 3-4 days in our modern Burntisland studio, 1-2 days remote

Modern, well-equipped studio just 2 minutes from the train, bus links, and decent coffee

30 days’ paid holiday per year, inclusive of Scottish bank holidays.

Ongoing training & development

We're a small team, so you'll have a say at every stage – from planning through to launch. We'll support your growth, respect your time, and trust you to do your best work.
